Even though ice cream had been popularly served on many dishes for hundreds of years, it was only until 1904 that ice cream cones came into being. It was during the World’s Fair, when an ice cream stall had been making a killing on one particular day and was running out of plates.
The neighboring stall was selling Persian waffle, and wasn’t doing so well. Both stall owners got together to come up with a solution, and the ingenious idea of rolling up waffles and putting ice cream on top of them was born. The result was the popular ice-cream cone, which is still loved today.
