Known as one of the most versatile and talented actors in the world, Depp left high school at the age of 15. Unlike others, he did try to join back, but when the school’s dean told him to pursue his dream of becoming a renowned musician, he left school again (why didn’t we have cool deans like that?).
After leaving school, he formed several garage music bands including one named ‘The Kids’. After getting married to Lori, his first wife, he began selling ballpoint pens to provide for his family. It was in Los Angeles that he met with actor Nicolas Cage (another high school dropout) who advised him to give it a try in acting. It was after Cage’s advice that Depp got a small role in ‘The Nightmare on Elm Street’ which kick started his career in Hollywood.
