The book was inspired on a true incident that took place in 1949. It was known by the name of exorcism of Roland Doe. The story revolves around a 12-year old girl under demonic possession.
The film also features how the mother would not stop attempting to win her child back and free her daughter from the demonic possession with the help of two priests.
