John Wayne won the award for True Grit. Have a look at the movie again and you would know why we were saying that the performance was not Oscar worthy. Wayne seems to have some good films, but that does not mean that he deserves to win he most prestigious award of all time.
You are completely wrong about Marisa Tomei….unless you thought her oscar nods for In the Bedroom and The Wrestler were undeserving to. And by the way, the oscar is awarded for a singular performance….whether or not the subsequent material is on par is immaterial.
