Swift doesn’t hide her bitterness – or her ex’s identity – in “Dear John”, an obvious jab at the volatile relationship she had with singer John Mayer from 2009 to 2010. She sings about Mayer’s “sick need to give love then take it away” in her sugar-sweet drawl, adding that she “should’ve known” to watch out for his womanizing ways. Mayer was mortified when the song was released, stating that it was “a really lousy thing” for his songstress ex to do.

The drama didn’t end there, though. Mayer retaliated by releasing “Paper Doll”, a passive-aggressive song that references lyrics from “Dear John” and “22”, another song by Swift. He mocks the sad lyrics where she states “you paint me a blue sky and go back and turn it to rain” in his lyrics, nonchalantly assuring her that “someone’s gonna paint you another sky.”

If only Swift had a business voice mail service or business email Web hosting where we could contact her and tell her how happy we are that she finally moved on. Business phone and Internet providers would probably love to have her as a customer.
