Tarantino actually intended Samuel Jackson (Jules) to be an afro, however, amidst several afro wigs that the prop master brought to the filming, he fatefully had a Jheri curl wig. Jackson just had to try it on, and voila everyone liked it. And so, just like that Jules went from being the afro guy to the a jheri curled man.
