Prince was a legend of eclectic, soul, funk, rock, R&B, pop, and everything in between kind of music. He was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and actor from Minneapolis, MN.
What he was really good at was bringing soul to his music and life to his diverse audience.
The proof was in his album sales.
He sold over 100 million albums worldwide from the 1970’s until his death in April of 2016.
In honor of Prince, we’ve compiled a list of his best song releases from every decade.

In the 1970’s, during the beginning of his stardom, two of his most notable songs were:
1978 -“Soft & Wet”
1979 -“I Wanna Be Your Lover”
“Soft and Wet” was Prince’s first single, released on his debut album, For You.
The lyrics were co-written by Chris Moon, the producer who helped discover him in Minneapolis. The song peaked at number 92 on the US Hot 100 chart in November of 1978.
1979’s”I Wanna Be Your Lover” hastily wrote when Warner Bros. asked for a follow-up to his debut album. It was the lead single from his second album, Prince.
The song turned out to be his first successful single and first top 40 hit, making it to number 11 this time on the Billboard Hot 100.
