Butch is very attached to his gold watch. We find that it’s a family heirloom that has been with the Coolidge for three generations. We hear Captain Koons (Christopher Walken) telling the young Butch about its importance, how his father had asked him to keep it safe, and how he had “stored” the watch in his rectum for five long years.
He also mentions a soldier named Winocki who had transported it back. Tarantino stripped the name from a movie directed by one of his personal heroes, Howard Hawks’ whose 1943 film “Air Force” had a character by the name of Joe Winocki.
