The world lost one of the greatest American singers and performers ever heard on Thursday, April 21, 2016.
Prince Rogers Nelson, 57, was a multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and actor. Known for his flamboyant stage presence, he included many different styles of music in his popular songs.
In 1984, Prince released one of his all-time greatest hits, Purple Rain, which was on the soundtrack for the film loosely based on his life, also titled Purple Rain.
The lyrics,
“Purple rain, purple rain
I only want to see you
Only want to see you
In the purple rain”
can be recognized by people and fans all over the world.
The next year, in 1985, he won an Oscar for”Best Orginal Song.”
Wondering what the song is about? Us too.
Apparently, purple rain is a deep longing or desire that will likely be hard to met; for example, a woman being in love with a married man.
