Obama is a pragmatist and his entire brand is built on idealism. He doesn’t believe in drawing things out or prolonging the inevitable, which is why his endorsement of Hillary Clinton was given in such decisive manner. He didn’t like that Bernie Sanders hadn’t dropped out of the race, even when he was sure to lose against Clinton, and therefore backed the better candidate in his view.
His endorsement effectively ended Sanders’ campaign, and ensured that the entire Democratic Party rallied around Clinton, to help her win the Presidential election.

Barack’s endorsement of Clinton was the assurance she was not going to win the election. Think about it – how many candidates he endorsed won; he endorsed Britain staying in the EU and we now have Brexit; he did the same for the Italian constitutional amendment which the Italians soundly rejected; he loves Merkel so the Germans is returning the favor by falling out of love with her; early on his first term he campaigned for the last summer Olympics be in the US so we had Rio. This guy who loves himself to the extreme is the touch of death to others. Thank you for endorsing Clinton.
