Yes! Ryan Gosling was to play Jack Salmon, a father of a girl who was raped and murdered. The story was adapted from a novel by the same name. But how did Gosling managed to get himself off the project?
Actually it was quite simple. All he had to do was be himself and that’s what he did. Since he always liked to add little bits of character to his roles, its exactly what he did.
Without consulting the director, Peter Jackson, he came to the set sporting a heavy beard and 20 pounds increased weight. But Peter Jackson was shaving none of this and so he decided to replace Gosling promptly.
Mark Wahlberg was then cast in the role and he went on to give an impressive performance, the anguish of a father quite well played. Ryan Gosling would have looked more like and older brother. What do you think?
