He bought the Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida in 1995. He paid $10 million to acquire the property, which was once owned by Marjorie Merriweather Post in 1985. In 1980, they declared the home as a national landmark.

Since then, the home hosted the wedding of Michael Jackson to Lisa Marie Presley and the International Red Cross Ball. The home consists of over thirty bathrooms, over sixty bedrooms, twelve fireplaces, and three bomb shelters.

After Trump bought the property, he decided to erect an 80-foot pole. The residents asked him to take it down, but he refused to listen. In return, they fined $1,250 for each day the flag remained erected.

He countersued, but in the end, they reached a settlement. He lowered down the flag to 10 feet and donated to the Iraqi War Veterans.
