New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker is a rapidly rising star among the upper echelons of the Democratic Party hierarchy. In fact the Senator from Vermont has often being named, amongst political pundits as a ‘shoe-in’ for the Vice presidential nomination, in part because of his track record, as arguably one of the most popular mayors of Newark’s history. In fact, his exploits have made him a living legend in that town. When he learnt that an elderly man was trapped in his own house he showed up, shovel in hand to dig him out. Indeed, once he even jumped into a burning building to save a woman’s life.
As regards his nomination chances, Hillary herself introduced him in Iowa and said:
“It gives me such a sense of gratification that he is here, supporting me in this very important election, because there is nobody I’d rather have by my side.”
