Ennio Morricone won the award for Best Original Score for The Hateful Eight, but was not present at the award ceremony to collect. On his behalf, the film’s director, Quentin Tarantino went to collect the award.
In his acceptance speech—the one he was suppose to give on the 87-year-old composer’s behalf—he made it all about himself. He went on to compare the composer to legendary composers such as Schubert, Mozart, and Beethoven.
Next, he rained down on the composer’s parade, saying that he had never won an award for any movie he made. In fact, he has won a Golden Globe, but not an Oscar.
