Grace Hopper is an inspiration and role model for all women in computer science. She is also credited with designing Harvard’s Mark I computer, back in 1944. Hopper also invented the compiler, which would translate written language into computer code.

She is also credited with coining the terms “bug” and “debugging”, when she had to remove a moth from the device. Hopper was also part of the team that developed COBOL in 1959, which was the first computer algorithm.
