If Conor McGregor really wants to bring a more strategic, effective and sound game plan, when he next steps into the Octagon, he will have to drastically improve his ground game. Conor maybe a brilliant fighter, but his lack of a solid ground game has proven to be his Achilles heel, and it was also exposed by Chad Mendes in their UFC 189 fight.
With this loss to Nate Diaz, every high-quality mat technician in the lightweight and featherweight division is chomping at the bit to get into the Octagon with McGregor next. This is all down to the fact that the blueprint for defeating McGregor is thought to be taking him to the ground. A lot now rests on Conor improving his ground game, if he wants to be the best in the division.
I have some issues with this article. 1st of all, McGregor easily made more money in losing to Diaz than you, I, and everyone reading this article will make in their entire lives combined. He probably doesn’t need any advice from you. His style is stand up striking (punches and kicks) and take down defense. Does Jon Jones need to become a better wrestler? How about Ruthless? No, that’s not their style. He lost 1 fight to a bigger man and he should be admired for handling it like a good sport.
