Mira Sorvino’s win was shocking for a lot of people. Sorvino was seen in Barcelona and the Quiz Show, but her career got a major boost from the Woody Allen movie. The reason why we believe that Sorvino did not deserve the award is that she failed to show her acting prowess outside of this movie. The movies that she did after the ‘Mighty Aphrodite’ seem like a poor choice.
You are completely wrong about Marisa Tomei….unless you thought her oscar nods for In the Bedroom and The Wrestler were undeserving to. And by the way, the oscar is awarded for a singular performance….whether or not the subsequent material is on par is immaterial.
