One completely fails to understand how Timothy Hutton got the award for the best supporting actor for his role in the ‘Ordinary People’. The performance was great but it was not Oscar worthy. Hutton was not even able to maintain the prestige that was awarded to him and failed to give another great performance, which says something about his acting.

You are completely wrong about Marisa Tomei….unless you thought her oscar nods for In the Bedroom and The Wrestler were undeserving to. And by the way, the oscar is awarded for a singular performance….whether or not the subsequent material is on par is immaterial.
