The 2002 Super Bowl was held less than five months after the 9/11 tragedy when the entire America was still coping with the incident. But with his epic performance, U2 did melt many hearts. The band opened the show with the hit ‘Beautiful Day’.
While the band was playing ‘Where The Streets Have No Name’, the backdrop showcased the names of all the victims who lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedy. During the performance, Bono also opened his jacket to flash the stripes and stars to show his support with the nation. The band’s performance was heartwarming and served as a memorial for the lost lives in the 9/11 attacks. Their performance was dramatic, serious, and equally uplifting for the entire nation.
