Smash Mouth did do well in their first few songs, but when they decided to take a pop turn, they failed badly. Their songs Flo, Beer Goggles, and Padrino did really well and had a hint of humor too. However, once they started making pop songs like ‘Can’t Get Enough of you Baby’, listeners began questioning the band’s authenticity.
Their pop hits were hated so much that they had to appear in reality shows to get someone to listen to them. Plus it looked like the band was going through a personality crisis, trying to enter pop genre or music which did not really work for it.
