Sports Illustrated golf journalist Herbert Warren Wind dubbed the difficult 11th, 12th and 13th holes with the catchy name, “Amen Corner” after the 1958 Masters tournament.

The title comes from a 1930’s  jazz record he listened to by Mezz Mezzrow, titled, Shouting in that Amen Corner.
