After going public with their relationship, Pitt and Jolie were more focused on their growing family rather than getting married.  They finally got engaged in April 2012 but said they would not wed until same-sex marriage was legal across the United States.  While it wasn’t legal all across the U.S., most states had legalized gay marriage by the time they were wed in August 2014.  Pitt and Jolie married at their estate in France in August 2014.  Their children also were apparently a large part of why they decided to get married and apparently helped the couple to write their vows.
