Renee Zellweger took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2003 for her role in “Cold Mountain”, which didn’t make sense to many people. She managed to beat off strong competition from strong contenders, which included nominees, Shohreh Agdashloo in “House of Sand and Fog” and “Patricia Clarkson in “Pieces of April”.

Many thought that Zellweger didn’t deliver a performance that was worthy of winning an Oscar and she didn’t do anything in her role to make the film standout.
