When it comes to foreign policy, what is different between the approaches of both candidates? Well, almost everything. Donald Trump, perhaps following his art of the deal mantra, wants to make a deal with everything that moves. As with his numerous other plans, Trump invited controversy yet again when he announced that he would move towards warmer relations with the autocratic Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was followed by an exchange of pleasantries among the two leaders when Trump called Putin a “strong leader” and Putin referred to Trump as “an extraordinary man”. He also aims to renegotiate – but not discard – the nuclear deal with Iran as well as broker a peace agreement between Palestine and Israel.

Cruz, on the other hand, is not the one to make deals with anyone. He has a very specific vision on foreign policy which involves ripping the nuclear deal “to shreds on day one,” getting involved with a Cold War with Russia and backing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to assert himself more in the Palestine issue.
