A handful of Swifties claim “I Knew You Were Trouble” refers to Swift’s trainwreck of a relationship with John Mayer, but other sources insist she’s singing about Harry Styles, the singer from One Direction. Like most of Swift’s relationships, things with Styles ended very quickly. The couple called it quits after just two months when they got into a heated argument about something that was apparently important enough to destroy their romantic bliss.
“Out of the Woods” is also about Styles. It alludes to the snowmobile accident that took place while the two were dating. Styles celebrated the song’s release date by stumbling out of his vehicle and vomiting on the side of an LA freeway. Don’t worry, the paparazzi got plenty of flattering pics.
