Scotsman Gerard Butler, most famous for his role as King Leonidas in the film adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel “300,” is actually a certified lawyer as well. Doing well as a student at St. Mirin’s & St. Margaret’s High School in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, his good grades earned him a spot to study law at the University of Glasgow. While at university, Butler had become very close to his estranged father, and unfortunately his father died during his battle with cancer, and Butler took some time off before his final year of law school.
Spending most of in Venice Beach, CA, he traveled often and drank heavily, justifying it as young and reckless behavior. He returned to Scotland to finish his degree and went to work as a trainee lawyer at an Edinburgh law firm, but ultimately left his law career behind to pursue acting.
