Fans were shocked when America’s sweetheart was arrested for disorderly conduct in Atlanta, Georgia, back in April 2013. Although multiple media outlets have reported Witherspoon was arrested for a DUI, we reviewed the court records and discovered that only her husband, Jim Toth, was charged with driving under the influence.
During the DUI arrest, Witherspoon repeatedly asked officers, “Do you know my name?” while mocking their requests for her to remain in the vehicle. Unfortunately for her, Atlanta police officers do not seem to care about granting special privileges to celebrities.
The judge was a bit more lenient, though – probably because Witherspoon and Toth both used good DUI lawyers. Witherspoon only paid a couple hundred dollars in fines, and Toth got off with community service and probation. A DUI attorney attended court on Witherspoon’s behalf, so she didn’t even have to miss work or time with her kids to address her criminal charges in Atlanta.
