Iowa, part of the Blue Wall States, comprising of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin, hold 74% electoral votes. The Blue Wall States, including Iowa, have been predominantly Democratic.

Obama won the entire Blue Wall States when he ran for president twice. However, in 2004, John Kerry failed to secure Ohio and Iowa. In the months following up to November, both political parties are looking to secure electoral votes in Ohio and Iowa.
